Iran U-23 Beats Australia at Asian Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's U-23 volleyball team defeated Australia 3-2 (17-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19, 16-14) at the 2017 Asian Men's Senior Volleyball Championship on Monday.

The Iranian team, who had defeated Australia 3-1 in Pool F on Saturday, defeated once again the team in the 5th-8th classification.

Iran will face China in the 5th place match on Tuesday.

Former successive two-time champion Iran has fielded a U-23 squad in its final preparation for the next month’s FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-23 World Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

The 2017 Asian Men's Volleyball Championship is the 19th edition of the Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, the biennial international men's volleyball championship of Asia organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).

The event is being held in Surabaya, Indonesia from 24 July to 1 August 2017. It is the second time that Indonesia hosts the tournament after the 2007 Asian Championship.
