Iran’s Karimi Claims Bronze at Wrestling World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Alireza Karimi from Iran won a bronze medal at the 2018 Senior World Wrestling Championships on Monday in Budapest, Hungary.

The freestyler defeated Dato Marsagishvili from Georgia 12-1 at the 92kg.

The other bronze at this weight category was won by Atsushi Matsumoto from Japan, who edged Mongolian Turtogtokh Luvsandorj 6-5.

The gold medal went to USA’s J’den Cox, a bronze medalist at the Rio Olympics and Paris World Championships while competing at 86kg, topped Ivan Yankouski from Belarus 4-1 at 92kg.

More than 850 wrestlers from 97 countries are competing in Budapest to win one of the 30 world titles in freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's wrestling.

The championships will run through Oct. 28.
