Iran Begins UWW Freestyle World Cup with Two Victories
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran started the 2019 United World Wrestling (UWW) Freestyle World Cup campaign by securing two victories on the opening day of the tournament in Yakutia, Russia on Saturday.
The Iranian team defeated Mongolia 9-1 in Group B and then drew 5-5 with title holder USA but won the match by 21-18 technical points.
Iran will meet Georgia on Sunday and will advance to the final match if it defeats the team.
Group A consists of Russia, Turkey, Cuba and Japan.
The action in Yakutia is due to continue on Sunday with the third round and final.
