IPL: Persepolis Held, Esteghlal Wins
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team was held to a goalless draw by Zob Ahan, while its arch-rival edged past Machine Sazi 1-0 in Iran Professional League (IPL) on Wednesday.
IPL leader Persepolis shared the spoils with Zob Ahan in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium.
In another match at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Esteghlal defeated Machine Sazi courtesy of late goal from substitute Mehdi Ghaedi.
On Thursday, Saipa will host Sepahan, and struggling teams Naft Masjed Soleyman and Esteghlal Khuzestan will meet together.
On Friday, Nassaji will host Padideh, Tractor Sazi play Paykan in Tabriz, Foolad meet Sanat Naft in Ahvaz, and Pars Jonoubi face Sepidrood in Abadan.
Persepolis sits top of the table with 55 points, followed by Esteghlal with 50 points.
Tractor Sazi is ranked third with 49 points and one game in hand.
