Iran Knows Opponents at AFC U-19 Championship 2020 Qualifiers

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has been drawn in Group D of the AFC U-19 Championship 2020 Qualifiers.

The Four-time champion was drawn along with Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and United Arab Emirates.

The draw Qualifiers concluded at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday with the 46 teams discovering their opponents.

The teams were divided into two zones of WEST with 25 teams and EAST with 21 teams.

Group A will see five-time champion Iraq faces Pakistan, Kuwait, Palestine and Oman, while 2014 winner and 2018 semi-finalist Qatar has Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan and Yemen for company in Group B.

Quarter-finalist in 2018, Turkmenistan will make its presence felt in Group C alongside Maldives, Lebanon and 1994 champion Syria.

Group E pits 2016 quarter-finalist Bahrain against Bhutan, Bangladesh and Jordan, while defending champion Saudi Arabia will entertain Afghanistan, India and Uzbekistan in Group F.

As far as the East Zone is concerned – Group G will see four ASEAN sides lock horns with Cambodia being the host. Along with them, Malaysia, Thailand, Northern Mariana Islands and Brunei Darussalam are part of the group.

Laos, Macau and Australia visiting Chinese Taipei are in Group H, while Group I consists of host Myanmar, Singapore and two Asian giant in China and Korea Republic. Vietnam host Group J with Japan, Mongolia and Guam paying them a visit.

Group K completes the East Zone with Indonesia hosting DPR Korea, Hong Kong and Timor Leste.

Top spot in the respective groups will earn direct qualification, while the four best second-placed teams will also advance to the 2020 Finals.

Should the yet to be determined host for the Finals finish either top of their group or among the best four second-placed teams, the next (5th) second-placed team in the ranking among all groups will qualify instead.

The Qualifiers will be played on November 2-10, 2019.
