Mes Sungun Advances to AFC Futsal Club Championship Quarters
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Defending champion Mes Sungun Varseqan from Iran cruised into the quarter-finals of the AFC Futsal Club Championship Thailand 2019 after defeating Al Dhafra Sports & Cultural Club 5-0 in a Group D tie on Saturday.
Mahdi Javid (two goals), Mohammad Shajari, Alireza Vafaei and Farhad Fakhim were on target for Mes Sungun.
Mes Sungun had started the campaign with a 8-2 win over Kazma SC of Kuwait on Thursday.
Mes Sungun's win meant Japan's Nagoya Oceans, who defeated Kazma SC of Kuwait 3-1 earlier on Saturday, also sealed its quarter-final spot.
Mes Sungun and Oceans will meet on Monday to decide the group winner.
The 2019 AFC Futsal Club Championship is the 10th edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship, an annual international futsal club tournament in Asia organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The competition is being held in Bangkok, Thailand on August 7-17.
