Iran’s Navy Chief Advises Enemies to Leave Region

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi called on enemies to leave the region immediately or face a humiliating withdrawal.

“The enemies must leave the region as soon as possible, otherwise, they will experience a humiliating pullout,” Rear Admiral Khanzadi said at the closing ceremony of the deep diving competitions of the International Army Games 2019, held on Iran’s southern island of Kish on Wednesday evening.

The commander also said foreign governments are wasting their resources and risking the lives of their servicemen by deploying forces to a region thousands of miles away from their maritime border.

He further warned the regional enemies and the US, the UK and the Zionist regime that the era of loitering and hypocritical showoff in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman has ended.

“A maritime Islamic resistance front is being shaped and developed. The era of plundering the region’s assets is over, and the enemies must leave the region as soon as possible,” the Iranian commander underlined, according to a report by Fars news agency.

His comments came after the US announced plans to create a new security initiative in the Persian Gulf by forming a coalition for escorting commercial ships.

In remarks in 2016, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined that security of the Persian Gulf region comes within the purview of the regional countries alone, and dismissed the US claim of seeking security in the region.

“The Persian Gulf security relates to the countries of the region which have common interests, and not to the US. So, security of the Persian Gulf region should be provided by the countries of this region itself,” the Leader said.
