Iran Defeats Senegal at ANOC World Beach Games
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran beach soccer team defeated Senegal at the Association of National Olympic (ANOC) Committees World Beach Games on Sunday.
In the match, held in Doha’s Katara beach, two teams went to penalty shootout after an 8-8 draw.
Team Melli beat its rival 3-1 on penalties.
Paraguay also defeated Ukraine 5-4 in Group C.
Iran, who beat Ukraine 5-4 in its opening match, will meet Paraguay on Monday.
The World Beach Games include a total of 14 disciplines in 13 sports.
More than 1,200 athletes from 97 countries are taking part in the games, with action split between the Katara and Al Gharafa venues between October 12 and 16.
