Friendly: Iran U-23 Beats Australia
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran U-23 football team defeated Australia 2-1 as part of its preparation for the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship in Doha, Qatar, on Monday night.
Ali Shojaei and Aref Aghasi scored for Iran in the first half and Australia reduced the deficit in the second half.
Iran has been drawn in Group C of the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship along with Uzbekistan, China and South Korea.
The competition will be held in Thailand from January 8 to 26 and the top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan as the AFC representatives.
