IWBF Asia Oceania C’ships: Iran’s Men Loses to Australia, Women’s Comes 5th
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s men’s wheelchair basketball team lost to Australia at the IWBF Asia Oceania Championships in Pattaya, Thailand for the second time.
Team Melli, who had lost to Australia 55-78 in its first match, was defeated against the powerhouse team 65-77 once again on Friday.
Iran’s men’s team has already secured its place at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
Iran’s women’s team also defeated Afghanistan 48-35 and finished in the fifth place in the competition.
The competition has four spots available for men and three for women at Tokyo 2020, with one spot in each already allocated to Japan as the host nation.
The games have brought 14 men’s teams and eight women’s teams together.
