Iran Freestyle Team Wins Asian Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran freestyle team claimed the title of the 2020 Asian Wrestling Championships on Sunday.

The Iranian wrestlers won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the second day of the competition in New Delhi, India.

Mohammad Javad Ebrahimi defeated Japanese Takuma Otsu 11-0 in the final match of the 92kg.

Ahmad Bazri lost to Shutaro Yamada from Japan in the 86kg final match and won a silver.

In the 74kg weight class, Mostafa Hosseinkhani defeated Mongolian Sumiyabazar Zandanbud 5-0 and won a bronze medal.

Parviz Hadi also beat Farkhod Anakulov from Tajikistan 10-0 in the 125kg bronze medal match.

Iranian wrestlers had won four medals on Saturday.

Mojtaba Goleij claimed a gold at the 97kg. Amir Hossein Hosseini grabbed a silver at the 70kg. Amir Hossein Azim Maghsoudi seized a bronze at the 65kg and Ali Bakhtiar Savadkouhi won a bronze medal at the 79kg.

Iran claimed the title with 168 points, followed by India (159) and Kazakhstan (146).
