Iranian Army Fit to Combat Future Threats: Commander

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force said his units have obtained advanced and smart weapons that enable the forces to counter threats of the future.

In a meeting with the Army University of Command and Staff’ professors and cadets on Wednesday, Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari said the Army Ground Force has managed to upgrade the mobility and agility of its units proportional to the contemporary operational needs and future warfare necessities.

With an evolution of its structure and organizational arrangements, the Army Ground Force is fully prepared to deal with the future threats, he said.

The wars of future will be based upon impact, not destruction, the commander noted, saying his forces have made great achievements by developing modern military gear, such as smart weapons, weaponry with pinpoint accuracy, and digital and electronic ordnance.

In remarks in April, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the country needs to maintain a constant state of preparedness to deal with new threats in the modern age.
