Iranian Teams Esteghlal, Persepolis on Verge of Transfer Ban

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian football giants Esteghlal and Persepolis are on the verge of being banned from registering new signings for the next three transfer windows.

Esteghlal has failed to pay Bojan Najdenov’s salary. The club has been ordered to pay the Macedonian midfielder $300,000.

Persepolis has also been ordered by FIFA to pay more than one million euros to former coach Branko Ivankovic but the Iranian team has yet to pay its debt.

Local media have reported that the two teams have been handed three -window transfer bans but Esteghlal and Persepolis clubs have said they still have time to pay their debts.
