Number of COVID-19 Recovery Cases in Iran Tops 290,000

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus positive cases who have recovered from the viral disease in Iran has surpassed 290,000, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Sima Sadat Lari put the death toll from the coronavirus in the country at 18,988, saying the disease has taken the lives of 188 patients over the past 24 hours.

She also noted that at least 290,244 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has risen to 333,699 following the detection of 2,510 new cases since Tuesday noon, the spokeswoman added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,940 patients have critical health conditions, Lari noted.

She went on to say that more than 2,763,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 20.5 million and the death toll has exceeded 746,000.
