16th Resistance International Film Festival Wraps Up

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The closing ceremony of Iran’s 16th Resistance International Film Festival was held at Tehran's Sacred Defense Garden on Sunday night.
Several high-ranking officials including Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education Saeed Namaki, Head of Ravayat-e Fath Cultural Foundation Dr. Mohammad Yashar Naderi, senior Iranian composer Majid Entezami, head of the festival Mehdi Azimi-Mirabadi, head of the Public Relations and Information Centre of the festival, Seyed Ahad Mikaeilzadeh, martyrs’ families and mass media reporters, attended the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Azimi-Mirabadi underscored how art can play a key role and affect the audience.
Over 9,000 works from 180 countries, including the US, UK, France, India and Palestine, were submitted to the secretariat of the event, he said.
Hailing the efforts made by the organizers of the festival, Azimi-Mirabadi noted that the prestigious international cinematic event was eventually held despite all difficualties amid the spread of the coronavirus.
He said the event had been highly welcomed by a huge number of Iranian artists and audiences.
The Resistance International Film Festival is considered as one of the most prestigious international film festivals in Iran with an aim to create an atmosphere of dialogue and understanding of current human sufferings and to foster the human spirit of brotherhood, peace, and resisting oppression and cruelty.
The event seeks to use the language of film as a medium to fight terrorism and violence.
Filmmakers around the world submitted short-length and feature-length documentaries, short-length and feature-length films, animations and music videos relevant to the festival's topics.
