Iran, Mali Friendly Called Off Due to Coronavirus Concerns

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s friendly match against Mali national football team was called off because of COVID-19 concerns.

Team Melli, who traveled to Antalya, Turkey on Sunday, had been scheduled to meet the African team but the match was canceled after several Malian players tested positive for COVID-19.

Iran defeated Uzbekistan 2-1 in Tashkent on Thursday in a friendly match and was scheduled to meet Mali on Tuesday.

This match was part of preparation for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, where Iran sits third in Group C behind Iraq and Bahrain.
