Iran’s Vafaei Fails to Qualify for Snooker English Open Quarters

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian snooker player Hossein Vafaei failed to reach the quarterfinals of the Snooker English Open.

Vafaei lost to reigning champion Mark Selby 4-3 from England.

He had already defeated German rival Lukas Kleckers, Englishman Joe Perry and Welshman Jamie Clark.

"I was lucky today because Hossein and Liang Wenbo both had chances to beat me," said Selby, who also needed to win the deciding frame against China's Liang in the third round.

The event is a professional snooker tournament taking place from October 12 to 18, 2020, at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England.
