Spokesman Reacts to Possible Role of UAE, Bahrain in Fakhrizadeh Killing
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran would respond to the killing of eminent scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh on the basis of facts, not suspicion, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson said when asked about possible assistance from the United Arab Emirate and Bahrain to Israel in the assassination attack.
Asked about the possibility of Abu Dhabi and Manama’s role in the assassination of Fakhrizadeh, considering that the two Arab states have normalized ties with the Israeli regime, Saeed Khatibzadeh said at a weekly press conference on Tuesday, “Any security threat to Iran will be promptly responded to. We respond to evidence, not suspicion.”
The spokesman noted that the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have roundly condemned the assassination of the Iranian nuclear scientist.
All neighboring countries and six Arab states of the Persian Gulf, except one country, have condemned the assassination attack, Khatibzadeh said, adding that one particular government ought to reconsider its policies.
On a story published by an Arab-language daily that an Israeli drone has been involved in the assassination of Fakhrizadeh, the spokesman said the security and military authorities should comment about it.
“Many Hollywood-style scenarios have been raised. The information campaign that has begun from Albany, Israel and Washington should not confuse us,” Khatibzadeh added.
Fakhrizadeh, a senior nuclear and defense scientist, was assassinated in a small city east of Tehran on November 27.
In remarks on Monday, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said it has become clear to Tehran that Munafeqin (Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization terrorists), the Zionist regime, and its spy service Mossad have been behind the assassination attack.
