Over 6,300 New COVID-19 Cases Detected in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 6,300 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Iran over the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

The total number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran has exceeded 1,268,000 following the detection of 6,360 new cases since yesterday, Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said on Thursday.

Sima Sadat Lari said 752 of the new cases have been admitted to the hospital, adding that among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,745 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection.

She put the total death toll from COVID-19 in the country at 50,553 following the deaths of 103 patients over the past 24 hours.

Lari also noted that more than 1,050,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The number of coronavirus cases worldwide is nearing 88 million and the death toll from the disease is about to hit 1.9 million.
