Coronavirus Cases in Iran Surpass 1.32 Million

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The total number of people diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran has exceeded 1,324,000, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran rose to 1,324,395 on Saturday after the detection of 6,100 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 508 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 1,113,224 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 56,719, saying the disease has taken the lives of 96 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,393 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 8,475,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 94 million and the death toll has exceeded 2 million.
