Iranian, Russian Forces Shoot at Aerial Targets in Joint Naval Drill

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The naval forces of Iran and Russia practiced shooting at aerial targets at a nocturnal operation during a joint exercise in the Indian Ocean.

The spokesman for the joint exercise told reporters that conducting night strikes against the aerial targets is one of the main tactics in a naval drill that the Iranian and Russian forces successfully practiced on Tuesday night.

Participants in the joint drill, including units from the Iranian Navy, IRGC Navy and Russian Navy, have practiced attacks on various drones and small aircraft in close coordination, Gholamreza Tahani said.

A flotilla of Russian military vessels, including Stoiky frigate and Kola replenishment oiler, arrived in Iran’s southeastern waters on Tuesday to take part in the joint drill.

The Iranian Navy chief has unveiled plans for the Indian naval forces to join Iran and Russia in the exercise going on in the northern parts of the Indian Ocean.
