IPL: Persepolis, Sepahan Emerge Victorious
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis and Sepahan football teams defeated their rivals at Matchweek 16 of Iran Professional League (IPL) on Monday.
Persepolis beat Saipa 1-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadim. Jalal Hosseini was on target just six minutes into the match.
Sepahan also edged past Gol Gohar 1-0 in Isfahan thanks to Sajad Shahbazzadeh’s second-half goal.
Esteghlal was held to a 1-1 draw by Mes in Rafsanjan. Masih Zahedi gave the host a lead in the 15th minute and Mes defender Hamed Nourmohammadi scored an own goal in the 52nd minute.
And Foolad remained in top four with a 1-0 win over Zob Ahan in Ahvaz. Ayanda Patosi scored the solitary goal of the match in the 15th minute.

Persepolis leads the table with 33 points, followed by Sepahan (31 points) and Esteghlal (27 points).
