Ansarifard, Abedzadeh Shortlisted for AFC International Player of Week

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian players Karim Ansarifard and Amir Abedzadeh have been shortlisted for the AFC International Player of the Week.

The Iranian duo stole the show in their teams and now the-afc.com has shortlisted them for International Player of Week.

Ansarifard (AEK Athens, Iran)
51 minutes, 1 goal, 100% pass accuracy (1-5 v Olympiacos)

It was far from a memorable day for AEK Athens, who suffered a heavy defeat to rival Olympiacos, but Ansarifard could be proud of his efforts after netting his fourth goal in his last five matches for club and country. He had also scored against Syria in the international break.

Abedzadeh (Maritimo, Iran)
90 minutes, 5 saves, 4 reflex saves, 86% pass accuracy (0-1 v Benfica)

He wasn’t on the winning side, but Iranian shot-stopper Abedzadeh delivered a superb performance against Portuguese giants Benfica on Monday. He made five saves, including three from one-on-one situations, and was only beaten from the penalty spot as Maritimo fell to a narrow defeat.

The pair will compete with Yuma Suzuki (Sint-Truiden, Japan), Daiki Hashioka (Sint-Truiden, Japan), Sam Kerr (Chelsea, Australia), Saleh Chihadeh (FC Thun, Palestine), Aias Aosman (FC Hermannstadt, Syria), Hwang Ui-jo (Bordeaux, Korea Republic), Wataru Endo (VfB Stuttgart, Japan) and Harry Souttar (Stoke City, Australia) for the award.
