Taremi’s Overhead Kick Wins UEFA Champions League Goal of Week

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mehdi Taremi’s goal against Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League’s Goal of the week.

After replacing Marko Grujic in the 63rd minute against Chelsea, Iran international Taremi rifled a spectacular overhead kick past Edouard Mendy in the closing minutes of the game after profiting from a Nanu cross.

Porto won the match 1-0 but failed to qualify for the semifinals after suffering a 2-0 defeat to the English side in the first leg.

Challenging him for this individual accolade were Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Bayern Munich striker Cameroon Choupo-Moting and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Although this edition of the Champions League has not yet ended, many already classify it as the best goal of the season. And there are also those who risk asking for the Puskas prize for the Iranian.
