Zarif: Palestine A Yardstick for Justice

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In a message on the eve of the International Quds Day, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described Palestine as a yardstick for justice and reaffirmed Iran’s support for the Palestinian people’s struggle against Israel.

“Palestine is a yardstick for justice. Few measure up,” the top Iranian diplomat said in a post on his Twitter account on Thursday.

“But Iran has proudly stood with Palestinian people—who resist the brutality of an apartheid regime,” Zarif underlined.

“Quds Day is yearly reminder of moral imperative of global solidarity for Palestine,” he added.

The Iranian foreign minister also noted that a democratic solution of the Palestinian issue would come true with a referendum in Palestine.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry enumerated the necessary conditions for the settlement of the Palestinian issue, stressing that Palestine’s future governing system must be determined on the basis of a referendum with the participation of all main inhabitants of Palestine and the formation of an integrated Palestinian government with the holy al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
