Daesh Eliminated in Iraq, Syria Thanks to Iran’s Anti-Terror Campaign: Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani praised the full liberation of Syrian and Iraqi territories from Daesh terrorists and said Iran’s assistance to the Arab countries played a major role in the elimination of the terror group.

Speaking to reporters before his departure to Turkey on Tuesday, Larijani pointed to security problems facing the Middle East and said given the anti-terrorism measures taken in the region, particularly by the Islamic Republic, over the past years, “fatal blows” have been delivered to terrorists.

“Daesh has been all but eliminated from the scene of Iraq and Syria and it is a great day for the Iranian people, who have been able to gain a major achievement through their resistance and create security and stability for the whole world,” he said.

Larijani left Iran for Turkey to participate in the 10th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, slated to be held in the Turkish city of Istanbul from November 21 to 24.

In recent years, the Middle East has been plagued with Takfiri terrorist groups like Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL) that are believed to have been created and supported by the West and some regional Arab countries.

The terrorist groups, which claim to be Islamic but whose actions are anything but, have been committing heinous crimes not only against non-Muslims, but mostly against Muslims in the region.

Governments in Iraq and Syria, which had been gripped by foreign-backed insurgency over the past years, recently managed to liberate last strongholds of Daesh in the Arab countries with the support of Iran.
