Problems of Iranian Trucks Crossing Turkish Borders Solved: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Turkey's Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, in a telephone conversation with Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi, made assurances that the Iranian trucks would have no problem in crossing the country’s borders.

In the phone call on Sunday, the Turkish minister pointed to the Iranian trucks’ problems at Turkish borders following the outbreak of the new coronavirus known as COVID-19 in the Islamic Republic and said the order to solve the problems has been issued.

The Iranian trucks can cross Turkey’s common borders with Bulgaria, Georgia and Greece, she added.

During the conversation, Vaezi and Pekcan also agreed that the health protocol prepared by the two countries should be finalized and signed as soon as possible, so that the situation of Iranian trucks would return to normal.

The remarks came as Iran’s administration on Thursday extended the closure of all schools and universities nationwide until the end of the current Iranian year (March 19) as the country is struggling with the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Iran’s Health Ministry announced on Sunday that the number of people who have died from the coronavirus in the country has risen to 194 and the total number of confirmed cases to 6,566.

At least 2,134 people have recovered from the disease in the country so far.
