Iranian Boxer Shahbakhsh Books Olympics Berth

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian boxer Danial Shahbakhsh secured his place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Wednesday.

The Iranian boxer defeated TSO Sing Yu from Hong Kong in Men's 57kg weight class in three rounds.

Iran’s Shahin Mousavi will also meet Byamba Erdene Otgonbaatar in the 75kg and will book his place if he defeats the Mongolian boxer.

The event was initially due to take place in the Chinese city of Wuhan, but was relocated to Amman, Jordan due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Thirty-five countries and 221 boxers are competing at the event, with 41 men's and 22 women's berths up for grabs at the Olympics.

Iran has sent eight boxers to the event.
