6 Saudis Killed, 3 Injured in Shooting near Yemen Border

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Six were killed and three others injured in Saudi Arabia's southwestern province of Asir, a report said.

Saudi police in the province are investigating the incident but provided no information concerning the attackers, the report carried by the Middle East Monitor reported.

The incident is said to have been sparked by a dispute between two families, according to local reports. The victims are in their 30s and 40s. Weapons used in the shooting have been seized by police and arrests are being made.

There has been unrest in the region in recent months. April witnessed a mutiny among Saudi-backed mercenaries fighting on behalf of fugitive Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi. The incidents occurred in the Jizan, Najran and Assir, which were historically Yemeni territories.
