Iran, IAEA Hold ‘Fruitful’ Talks in Tehran: Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to the Vienna-based international organizations hailed Sunday’s productive negotiations with the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Tehran.

Kazem Gharibabadi, a participant in the talks held in Tehran on Sunday morning, said in a post on his Twitter account, “Iran and the IAEA held fruitful discussions based on mutual respect.”

The ambassador noted that the results of the talks will be released in the evening.

The UN nuclear watchdog’s director general, Rafael Grossi, arrived in Tehran on Saturday night to discuss how to work with Iran in light of its plan to halt the voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty as of February 23.

The IAEA chief held negotiations with Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi for what Iranian officials described as “technical discussions on how to continue cooperation in the light of new arrangements and development.”
