Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan Consider Initiative for Cultural Collaboration

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan weighed plans at a meeting in Dushanbe for cultural cooperation among the three Persian-speaking nations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin, and Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar held the trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 9th annual ministerial meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul initiative in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

In the gathering, Zarif highlighted the significance of tripartite cooperation in creating regional stability and convergence, expressing Iran’s readiness for cultural cooperation within the format of an operational program.

The foreign minister of Tajikistan also hailed the common cultural values among his country, Iran and Afghanistan as a superb example of regional convergence, pointed to the festive occasion of Nowruz, and proposed the idea of joint cultural programs among the three nations.

For his part, the foreign minister of Afghanistan praised the common views of Kabul, Tehran and Dushanbe on regional issues, and voiced his country’s readiness for cultural, economic and political cooperation with Iran and Tajikistan on the basis of a unified roadmap.
