Kyrgyz Leader Hails Iran’s Support in Coronavirus Fight

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov expressed gratitude to Iran for providing his country with humanitarian aids in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Bishkek on Tuesday, the president of Kyrgyzstan thanked the Islamic Republic for the coronavirus-related humanitarian assistance.  

Japarov also described the constant political interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Iran as a sign of mutual interest in promoting relations, and highlighted the great potential for economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agricultural, pharmaceutical and construction sectors.

For his part, Zarif congratulated Japarov on his election, pointed to the ample opportunities for closer ties between the two nations, and voiced Iran’s readiness for holding the 13th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Joint Commission with Kyrgyzstan.

The top Iranian diplomat has visited Bishkek after a trip to Uzbekistan.

The tour of Central Asia will later take Zarif to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
