IPL: Persepolis Beats Esteghlal in Tehran Derby
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team defeated Esteghlal 1-0 in Tehran derby and moved top of the Iran Professional League (IPL) table on Friday.
Issa Alekasir scored the only goal of the match 10 minutes into the second half on a rebound after Esteghlal goalkeeper Rashid Mazaheri failed to save Shahriar Moghanlou’s shot.
Esteghlal put Persepolis under pressure afterward but failed to find the back of the net.
Persepolis defender Farshad Faraji was shown a red card in the injury time.
Persepolis sits top of the table on goal difference and Sepahan is second.
