Sepahan Returns to Top: IPL
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sepahan football team defeated Mes Rafsanjan 5-1 in Matchweek 23 of the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Sunday.
In the match, held in Isfahan’s Naghsh-e Jahan Stadium, Mohammad Reza Soleymani scored for Mes in the ninth minute.
Sepahan Georgian center back Giorgi Gvelesiani leveled the score with a header in the 25th minute.
Three minutes later, Mohammad Reza Hosseini made it 2-1 thanks to Mes defenders’ mistakes.
Omid Noorafkan was on target in the 33rd minute and Sajjad Shahbazzadeh score Sepahan fourth goal in the 38th minute.
Yasin Salmani also scored for the host to make it 5-1.
In Masjed Soleyman, Machine Sazi suffered a late 1-0 defeat against Naft Masjed Soleyman and moved one step closer to relegation.
Paykan also beat Saipa 2-1 in Tehran.
Sepahan moved top of the table with 48 points, followed by Persepolis who has 45 points and one game in hand.
