Over 2,000 COVID Patients Hospitalized in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus cases who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours surpassed 2,100, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference on Tuesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 2,779,400 following the detection of 13,930 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 2,102 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 2,258,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 77,532, saying the disease has taken the lives of 310 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,173 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 18.28 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 2.16 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 164 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.4 million.
