Iran COVID-19 Death Toll Tops 81,000

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The global death toll from COVID-19 in Iran surpassed 81,000, the Health Ministry said.

The ministry on Sunday said the pandemic has claimed 122 lives over the past 24 hours, bringing the overall coronavirus death toll in Iran to 81,063.

The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has reached 2,966,363 after the detection of 5,612 new cases since yesterday, it said.

More than 2,552,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, it noted, adding that over 20,688,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in the country so far and more than 4.2 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

More than 173 million people have been infected with COVID-19 across the world and the death toll from the disease has exceeded 3.73 million.
