Iran’s Parliament Vows Close Cooperation with President-Elect

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf promised that the legislature would do its utmost to cooperate with the administration of President-elect Ebrahim Raeisi.

In comments at a Monday session of the Parliament, Qalibaf pledged that the Parliament will employ all of its capacities and capabilities for rapport, full cooperation, and synergy with the administration of Raeisi.

Highlighting the Parliament’s efforts to fulfill its duties while respecting the independence of the branches of power, the speaker expressed hope that effectual cooperation with the next administration would yield tangible results in the settlement of people’s problems and allow the public to experience the services offered by the revolutionary forces.

Ebrahim Raeisi, the incumbent Judiciary Chief of Iran, won the June 18 presidential election by a landslide.

The president-elect had announced in his electoral campaign that he has set an agenda for securing the removal of the sanctions imposed on the Iranian nation, emphasizing the need for the country’s economy to be fortified in the face of sanctions or any other shock that may hit.

Raeisi said on June 9 that the current economic conditions in the country was “unacceptable” since the people are not able to predict their financial situation due to constant fluctuations.
