Iran’s Defense Minister Hopes for Muslim Unity in Message on Eid al-Adha

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In a message to his Muslim counterparts on Eid al-Adha, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami hoped for growing unity and amity among Islamic nations.

The Iranian defense minister on Tuesday sent separate congratulatory messages to his counterparts in Muslim countries, offering warm wishes on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Describing the festive occasion as a manifestation of obedience to Almighty God, Brigadier General Hatami expressed hope that the Islamic Ummah (community) would take advantage of the divine and Islamic teachings to strengthen unity and amity.

He also wished for a world filled with spirituality, justice, welfare, friendship and security.

Eid al-Adha is one of Islam's holiest festivals celebrated annually around the world and an official holiday in Muslim-majority countries.

In the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha occurs on the 10th day of the lunar month of Dhu al-Hijjah and is also the third day of the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
