Tokyo 2020: Iranian Athlete Pirjahan Tests Positive for COVID-19

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian runner Mahdi Pirjahan has tested positive for COVID-19, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Iran said.

He was supposed to participate at the Men's 400m hurdles but has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Gholamreza Norouzi, head of Iran's Sports Medicine Federation, said Pirjahan will fly to Tokyo if he tests negative.

The men's 400 meters event at the 2020 Summer Olympics is scheduled to take place between August 1 and 5 at the Olympic Stadium.
