Iranian President Calls for Evolving Ties with Belarus

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's President Ebrahim Raeisi called for a shift in Tehran-Minsk relations in a meeting with Speaker of the Belarus House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko on Friday.

President Raeisi stated that all capacities should be utilized in order to achieve a transition in Iran-Belarus relations, citing the joint cooperation commissions as an example.

He underlined that sanctions could not prevent the two countries from deepening their friendship, and that the US is mistaken in believing that sanctions would obstruct nations' growth, as Iran continues to develop via collaboration with friendly countries.

Andreichenko cited Raeisi's inauguration speech, saying that it demonstrated Iran's great desire for growth, and that Belarus remains with Iran on this path.

He added that sanctions imposed by Western countries hampered the growth of connections between Iran and Belarus, but that with coordination, the two countries could raise their cooperation level.

Andreichenko visited Iran for Raeisi’s inauguration ceremony, which took place in Iran's Parliament on Thursday.
