Iran Gets New Nuclear Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi appointed the road minister in his predecessor’s administration as the new head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

In a decree on Sunday, Raisi appointed Mohammad Eslami as the new chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

Eslami, 65, used to serve as the minister of Roads and Urban Development in the administration of former president Hassan Rouhani.

Eslami is replacing Ali Akbar Salehi, who played a significant role in the marathon nuclear talks with the Group 5+1 which resulted in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015.
