Over 19 Million Iranians Receive First Dose of COVID Vaccine

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people who have received the first jab of vaccine for the coronavirus in Iran has surpassed 19 million, with over 9 million having gotten both doses.

The new figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that more than 19,009,000 Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 9.05 million have received the second dosage as of Wednesday.

The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has exceeded 5,025,200 following the detection of 33,170 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 4,357 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 4,237,300 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 108,393, saying the disease has taken the lives of 599 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 7,860 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units.

More than 29 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 218 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.53 million.
