Over 30,000 New COVID Cases Detected in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran in the past 24 hours stood at above 30,000 cases, 15% of whom have been admitted to the hospital.

The Health Ministry announced on Thursday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 5,055,500 after the detection of 30,279 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 4,544 patients have been admitted to the hospital, it added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 7,831 coronavirus patients are being kept in the intensive care units because of more severe infection.

The ministry further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 108,988, saying the disease has taken the lives of 595 patients over the past 24 hours.

At least 4,269,500 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also said more than 29.11 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and over 19.14 million people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world is about to hit 219 million and the death toll exceeds 4.54 million.
