Over 16 Million Doses of Barekat COVID-19 Vaccine Produced in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has produced more than 16 million doses of Barekat homegrown so far, an official said.

Hassan Jalili, director of the project to develop COV-Iran Barakat vaccine at the Headquarters for Executing the Order of the Imam, said 7.5 million doses of the vaccine have been delivered to the Health Ministry.

He added that the ministry will soon receive some 9 million more doses after the completion of the quality control phases.

He said the phases one and two of Shafa Farmed plant are currently producing the vaccines 24/7.

According to Jalili, reports and research studies carried out by the Health Ministry show that among the vaccines used in vaccination programs in Iran, COV-Iran Barekat is one of the most effective with the least amount of side effects.

Efforts for registration of COV-Iran Barekat, in the World Health Organization (WHO) are also underway, he went on to say.

Iran granted emergency use authorization to COV-Iran Barekat back in June.
