COVID Death Toll in Iran Surpasses 123,000
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran has exceeded 123,000, according to the Health Ministry.
The figures released by the Iranian Health Ministry on Tuesday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 213 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 123,081.
According to the statistics, 13,391 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,869 of them hospitalized.
More than 5.24 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,729,700 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.
Some 5,100 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The Ministry also said that more than 46.25 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 20.77 million have received the second dosage.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 239 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.87 million.
