COVID Daily Deaths in Iran Down to 162

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The coronavirus death toll rate in Iran continues to follow a downward trend with the Health Ministry reporting 162 new deaths in 24 hours.

The figures released by the Health Ministry on Wednesday show that the coronavirus has taken the lives of 162 patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the pandemic in February 2020 to 124,585.

According to the statistics, 11,770 new cases of COVID-19 infection have been reported across the country over the past 24 hours, with 1,798 of them hospitalized.

More than 5.36 million individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,821,700 who have contracted the disease, the Ministry added.

Some 4,559 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

It also said that more than 49.71 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 26.8 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 242 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.93 million.
