Iran Registers Lowest Daily COVID Deaths in 16 Weeks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of patients who have died of the coronavirus infection in Iran over the past 24 hours stood at 124, the lowest death toll since July 3.

The Iranian Health Ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 125,052 on Saturday, saying the disease has taken the lives of 124 patients over the past 24 hours, the lowest toll in 112 days.

Over the past 24 hours, 7,081 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 1,078 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 5,402,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 5,851,600 ones who have contracted the disease.

Some 4,346 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 50.6 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 28.87 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 243 million and the death toll has exceeded 4.95 million.
