Iran Hails Algerian Support for Syria’s Return to Arab League

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Iran praised Algeria for its logical stance in support of Syria’s return to the Arab League.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra talked about the relations between Tehran and Algiers, as well as regional and international developments.

The top Iranian diplomat hailed as praiseworthy Algeria’s logical stance on the return of Syria to the Arab League.

He also expressed hope that the next meeting of the Arab League would bring benefits to the Islamic community.

Amirabdollahian also lauded Algeria for voting against the decision of the African Union to grant the Israeli regime observer status, saying Algeria has acted on the basis of wisdom and logic.

Highlighting the close political relations between Iran and Algeria, he expressed hope for the enhancement of ties in all fields.

Amirabdollahian further described the most recent meeting of chambers of commerce of the two countries as a positive step in broadening the trade relations between the two countries.

For his part, Lamamra said the meeting of the chambers of commerce would result in the expansion of trade relations and increase the volume of trade exchanges.

Stressing the need for the formation of a political committee between Algeria and Iran, he invited the Iranian foreign minister to visit Algiers.

The two foreign ministers further hailed the positive and constructive course of political and parliamentary relations between the two countries, talked about the latest developments in Libya, and emphasized that the problems in that country could be settled by the Libyan groups and without foreign interference.
