Iran Registers Lowest Daily COVID Deaths in Nearly 8 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of patients who have died of the coronavirus infection in Iran over the past 24 hours stood at 100, the lowest death toll since April 1.

The Iranian Health Ministry put the total deaths from COVID-19 in the country at 128,734 on Friday, saying the disease has taken the lives of 100 patients over the past 24 hours, the lowest toll in 232 days.

Over the past 24 hours, 5,784 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 893 of them hospitalized, the ministry added.

More than 5,759,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,069,000 ones who have contracted the disease.

Some 3,431 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The Ministry also said that more than 56.38 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 44.05 million have received the second dosage.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 256 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.15 million.
