Over 900,000 Adults Get COVID Booster Shots in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 902,000 Iranians have received a third dose of the coronavirus vaccine, known as the booster shot.

New figures released by the Health Ministry indicate that more than 104 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the country as of Thursday, with over 57.17 million people having received the first dose, nearly 46 million fully vaccinated, and over 902,900 adults having gotten the third dose.

While more than 38.21 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far, the total number of people tested positive has exceeded 6,097,000 following the detection of 4,850 new cases since Wednesday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 786 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

At least 5,830,600 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran.

The ministry also put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 129,376, saying the disease has taken the lives of 96 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,368 coronavirus patients are in the intensive care units.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 259 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.19 million.
